Kris McCue has been a chemical-free gardener for more than 40 years, saving a few seeds but primarily growing food. In 2014, she joined the Bionutrient Food Association (BFA) and co-led its Connecticut chapter for five years, beginning a deeper journey into soil minerals and soil biology. She hosted organic farm tours and speakers exploring soil health, the connection to human health, and seed saving. Through organic farming and gardening conferences, Kris was introduced more formally to seed keeping by legendary seed stewards including Will Bonsall, Heron Breen, formerly of Fedco, and Dr. Kris Hubbard, an Indigenous Seed Keeper. She continues to grow food and seed crops at her Home Community Garden.
